2) Regarding the multisession mode, I found that you set multisession=TRUE in your sample code:

l__EXCEPTION_NUMBER =
StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_TrackAtOnceFromTree(
l__PVOID__CdvdBurnerGrabber,
( PCHAR )( &l__CHAR__ExceptionText ),
sizeof( l__CHAR__ExceptionText ),
&l__ULONG__Status,
&l__CDB_FAILURE_INFORMATION,
l__UDF_CONTROL_BLOCK.m__PVOID__Body,
TRUE, // FALSE
( BOOLEAN )( atoi( p__PCHAR__Argv[ 5 ] ) ),
TRUE, // <---------------------------MultisessionIsAllowed <<<<<<<
WRITE_REPORT_DELAY_IN_SECONDS,
BUFFER_STATUS_REPORT_DELAY_IN_SECONDS
);

I should replace it with FALSE, right ?

What is "exclusive access to the drive" ? After implemented, Sonic/Roxio will no longer conflict with StarBurn ??

Okay, I will ask him to update the firmware, hope he can be patient to the new StarBurn.

Thanks.

1) Yes, just replace it with FALSE. When TRUE enabled burning takes a while (at least 1GB would be recorded) and it's too much for TESTS.

2) Yes. I hope so...

3) Yes, please do it.

1) So why don't you set multisession=FALSE in your sample code ?

Thanks.

Burning of 4 MB sample track would take too long time (1GB of padding would be recorded). I'll change the sample comments however so far. You're right on this!

According to the user's information, I can only find the following update for the DVD burner, but it doesn't seems to be a firmware update.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/soft ... pv-28739-9

Also there is NO firmware update for this burner drive (GWA-4166B) on LG's website.

so... we can only rely on the "exclusive access" of StarBurn...

Thanks.

Is there any way to disable/uninstall Sonic software? Want to check - is it a true issue... Has he Packet-At-Once recording software enabled?

According to HP.com information, the computer should have the following software preloaded:

------------------------------------
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2

WinDVD 5 Player Basic (with optional 7.1 upgrade)
Sonic DigitalMedia Plus 7.02
Sonic MyDVD Plus 6.13

MSN Encarta Standard (online)

iTunes 4.8 (w/Quicktime)
Microsoft Plus Digital Media Edition LE
Real Player
My Compaq Games

Adobe Reader
Microsoft Works 8.0
Microsoft Office 2003 Student Teacher Edition Trial
Microsoft Money 2005
Quicken New User Edition 2005

Norton Internet Security 2005 AntiSpyware Edition (60-day security update subscription)
Norton Security Center

PC-Doctor 5 for Windows
-----------------------------------

He didn't tell me he got other burning software installed.

I think it can only be uninstalled. But the user may not want to do it...

Thanks.

Unfortunately there's no way to get 4166 here so I cannot even reproduce his problem.

Thanks. :)

Yes. And please try to ask the user to uninstall Sonic stuff. At least temporary (he should have installation available on companion CDs).

Quote from Sonic support:
Quote:
Sonic is aware of drive contention issues with the
following applications but is not limited to this list:
Nero Burning ROM
Nero InCD
Roxio Easy CD Creator
Roxio DirectCD
NTI CD Maker Pro
NTI FileCD
InterVideo WinDVD
Cyberlink PowerDVD
These applications should be disabled prior to using Sonic
or vice versa.

This program could not compatible with _ any_ burning
software, except itself. :)

1) The most funny thing about it - Sonic and Roxio share basically the same burning engine. I have no idea why they cannot co-exist with their brother software...

2) Really wise apps (like CloneCD and Alcohol) do have hook-based SCSI filter sitting just above SCSI port and doing all hidden traffic I/O between main app and the device. They would work always. We also support Daemon tools hidden SCSI transport but no yet released Daemon Tools Pro must be installed on the machine... :(

I asked the user to uninstall Sonic, but he didn't reply me, I think it mean he don't want to do it. Today one more user got the same error, again he get Sonic preloaded on his computer... :(
Many HP's computers also get Sonic preloaded.... :(

1) I'm done with exclusive access to device. Actually I can issue you with a version for tests right now. Drop me a message and we'll discuss how to do it.

2) Problems does not happen with such a software ALWAYS. It seems to be a very specific combination of hardware (burner), software (Sonic, Roxio) and something else... B/s I'm not always able to reproduce user's problems having the same hardware and the same software installed.

So Sonic or Roxio on the same machine with RDS or other burning stuff does not means anything would not work just always. It means "there could be issues".

3) There would be also a way to install free Daemon Tools (Pro) and use it's hooking SCSI filter driver which is supposed to fix the problem.

4) It's not RDS problem in general. We'll do our best to make our stuff work in every particular case however we would not die to make ourself compatible with the guys who officially claim themself incompatible with much more powerful companies software (like Ahead for example).

1) Email sent.

3) What is "Daemon Tools" ? Could you mind to let me know the details ?

4) Yes, I understand it is not the problem of RDS.

Thanks.
