#1 Burning Software

Ladies and Gentlemen,

we'd like to make our application better. That's why I'd like to start this topic on public forum. The question is - why did you select StarBurn to be the library for CD/DVD recording for you. Or why did you go to the other software vendor (names are also welcomed).

Knowing this all would help us to make our library more usable, better and our customers happier.

Your opinion is priceless for us!

Hi for ALL...
I want to say "Thanks" to RocketDivision developers. StarBurn SDK is the unique SDK.
I was trying various SDK for disc burning and I was choosing this product because:
1. This SDK contain full set of tools for work with discs: Burning tools for creating AudioCD/DataCD/(S)VideoCD/DVD-Video. The Ripp&Grab functions.
2. You can use this SDK with C++ and Delphi compilers. SDK contains full samples with all necessary comments.
3. The constant SDK update. Fine support and feedback.
4. The GOOD price

Yep, I'd go along with NeoTall's summary. For us, it was
1. good samples meant we could do pretty much everything we wanted to do with a simple cut&paste of code
2. good documentation with intuitive function naming
3. broad functionality, allowing good control of the recording process
4. quick response back from questions, whether simple or complex
5. professional looking web-site gives the appearance of more than a mom-and-pop shop
6. the very good price

Anybody wants to write down what RDS and StarBurn are missing?

The SDK does everything we've needed so far, so no problem there.

We don't really need extended support, since Anton works 24 hours a day anyway and replies to messages whatever time posted.

So, I'd say there's nothing on our wish list (other than BlueRay!).

And I would like to add that the user support provided by Anton is amazing. We asked for some custom modifications and they were performed according to the specifications. All emails with problems are answered straight away.

I have used Goldenhawk SKD before and have found it to be much more diffucult to maintan. It was necessary to update the software every 3 months and the older libraries did not recognize new devices (I think they did not use MMC, but I am not sure). Not to mention that very now and they data structures changed and I had to rewrite my code instead of just compiling it. Also technical support was next to non-existent.

Kind of strange... Goldenhawk was (and I though is) a company whom I respect quite a lot. They are pioneers of custom component CD/DVD recording industry. However last time I've had a deal with them it was I think late 2000-early 2001. Their software was stable and support very helpful. It's a pity they had changed that much

Is DLL + Pascal header OK for you? Do you need something like VCL component integrating into IDE in general?

Dll and header is exactly what I need. I cannot image that I would use a component if it existed.

I think "NO"... Or add to SDK and StarBurn.pas (header), and VCL component...

For example: I don't use VCL, I use WinAPI functions and other modules which use WinAPI... Pascal header it's ALL I need...

OK, so we'll concentrate on advanced samples instead of VCL wrapper.
