I am trying to Create an ISO image file (Joliet) that has a single file that is 4,574,609,408 bytes in length.


This does not seem to work. When I view the iso in WINRAR it shows the size of the file is about 300MB.

It seems that a file cannot be larger than 4GB. because the leftover ammount is about original size - 4GB!

The BuildImage.exe sample fails with a message saying "GetDiskFreeSpaceEx( 'c' ) failed, status 3"

What are the limits of on file size for each file in a Joliet disc or image?

For FAT filesystem - 4GB. For NTFS - 2TB. It's Microsoft and not StarBurn limitation.

I was asking about the size of a file inside of the ISO image, not the File System of the Operating System (FAT32 vs. NTFS). I did some more google research and found that ISO9660/Joliet supports a maximum length for a file inside an ISO image, or written to a DVD to be not more than 4GB.

Sorry for misunderstanding. There's single 32-bit entry for data payload size for ISO9660/Joliet so it's really 4GB for unsigned size and 2GB for signed size. It's a goot idea to keep files on ISO FS less then 2GB and not 4GB however.
