Hi, all,

I need to develop a program using Java.
What the program do is burning a UDF version 2 file into a DVD disk.

I am quite new to this area.
So can any one help me to know if I have any chance to use StarBurn SDK to do it? So far Java has no package to write img file into DVD disk and it seems the Windows API is a bit too low level. So I need some API level functions to write the image to DVD Disk and get to know if the process has been finished successfully.

Using Java because we are using Java Start.

Thanks a lot.

Guys would conact you soon (we don't have sample ready Java code yet however 3 or 4 customers of StarBurn do use it with own Java wrappers). Couple of questions so far - do you need to update recorded DVD later? I mean add new files? Or is it once written backup media?

Hi, anton,

What I need is fairly simple. Some other programs create a udf 2 version file under Linux. Then they send it to a windows machine via samba or ftp or whatever. What the program I am going to write will simply burn this udf file into a DVD disk, and that's all. Of course it should be able to get information about the process of the burning (how much percentage has been finished ) and if the burning has finished successfully.

I can wrap the C++ code using Java JNI technology, personally I do not think that could be a problem. However, I need to make sure that StarBurn SDK is the one I can use for this work.

And, so far I just need once written backup media, of course it could be changed in the future when the system evolves.

Thanks. :)

Sounds like we can do this :) The sample we have has own file system building code but of course we can burn any "alien" image as well. Please wait for the sample from Alexander. Thanks!
