#1 Burning Software

I have been reading this forum, and found some posts which discuss this subject, but I want to make things clear.

We need to build an application which takes a/v data from a video capture card and streams it to DVD in standard format (can be played on a standard DVD player).

We are not required to write direct to DVD, although that would be ideal. We need to write one chapter every 5 minutes of recorded video, so we could buffer the video to disk and write it out at the end of that period, assuming we could finish the burn quickly.

My understanding is that we would create a single title, and multiple chapters therein. There is no need for visual navigation (menus, etc) - the user would simply navigate between chapters with prev/next.

Our preference would be for a .NET-based (C#) system, but we could also handle C++. Linux would be nice, but not essential.

Can any of your sdks support this functionality?

No, you cannot do this with StarBurn SDK. And I even don't know the burning library capable of solving your task.

So, it is not possible to emulate the behaviour of a commercial DVD Recorder at all? That's what we are trying to achieve - to burn to DVD progressively, as the A/V data arrives.

Therefore, I was a little surprised at your response. I feel maybe I have not expressed my requirements accurately in my previous post. Hopefully the above makes things a little clearer...

If you're OK with the padding (when initially you'd provide fixed file system layout and if you'd decide to stop burning in the middle of the process you'd have to do padding till the end of the FS layout) - we can provide you with other burning engine. Not StarBurn. And existing on Linux as well.

Is padding required when pausing recording as well as stopping?

You cannot stop streaming. At least it's not recommended (link blocks recorded automatically and disc may become unplayable by home DVD players).
