Hi all,

I need info regarding writing modes supported by star Burn SDK. As per my knowledge supported modes are:
Track-At-Once,Session-At-Once, Disc-At-Once PQ, Disc-At-Once raw .

Now i am using DAO mode for burning cds and its working fine for cds.
But as DAO is not supported for DVDs, I am not able to burn dvds.

Calling StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_ProbeSupportedWriteModes with dvd writer and dvd media results in following:
Track-At-Once: Yes, Session-At-Once: Yes, Disc-At-Once PQ: Yes, Disc-At-Once raw P-W: Yes

I guess it should give
Disc-At-Once PQ: No, Disc-At-Once raw P-W: No.

To resolve this I can use Track At Once for burning both dvd's and cd's.
Is it possible that TAO will not fail in any case for CD or DVD.
Please let know if I can use TAO for both CD's and DVD's.

---

You don't bother yourself to read the FAQ, it's for dummies, right?

Q6: Why my DVD burners refuses to burn DVDs in Session-At-Once and Disc-At-Once recording modes?

A6: Just because it does not support them! For recording DVDs you need to use Track-At-Once burning mode only. We know Nero (and other software) calls this mode "DVD DAO" but we want to call it TAO b/s it's much closer to CD TAO (when "cooked" user data is recorded) then
to CD DAO ("when "raw" data is written to the media). It's only a question of therminology and nothing more. BTW, it's a good idea to call StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_ProbeSupportedWriteModes(...)
API call before doing any burning activities. It does properly list all of the supported write modes for current combination of "optical drive + inserted media". Recording modes would be DIFFERENT for different inserted media.

If I would have got answer in FAQ I wouldn't have asked in forum.

This message was posted after reading FAQ's only.
It was written in FAQ to call probedwritemodes function before doing any burning.
but
Calling StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_ProbeSupportedWriteModes with dvd writer and dvd media results in following:
Track-At-Once: Yes, Session-At-Once: Yes, Disc-At-Once PQ: Yes, Disc-At-Once raw P-W: Yes

My quess was that once
Disc-At-Once PQ results in false so then we can call Track At Once

1) Don't do anything except TAO with DVD (Blu-Ray or HD-DVD in the next release).

2) Some of the DVD burners do really report DAO is supported for DVD media. StarBurn has been fixed blindly returning FALSE to them in latest RC.
