I'm trying to figure out how to get the Manufacturer/Media ID and information like Nero's InfoTool.

For example
Manufacturer ID: RICOHJPN R03
Supported Speeds: 16.0 X - 12.0 X - 8.0 X - 6.0 X

I know I have to use ATIp information to figure out CD-R media info(using a table that isn't available unless you pay the Orange book peopl as far as I can tell). But ATIP fails on DVD media so there must be some other method. GetDiscInformation always returns with IsDIDValid = FALSE. Any help would be appriciated.

For DVDs we must read physical media info with "Read DVD structures". We really don't have any plans to add this thing soon. So you may use ExecuteGeneric sample and use StarBurn to add wrapper stuff yourself.

You can get MMC spec here:

link was removed

Also you may write down how soon you need this solution as we've talked here and decided to add this stuff to StarBurn after current release would be out.
