Discs recorded in DAO mode are *NOT* appendable. So it's normal for them to fail ReadTrackInformation( TRACK_NUMBER_INVISIBLE ). They just don't have any track open for recording.

That makes since to me. So what I probably need to do is check the disk information first to see if the disk is complete or not first. Then check the track information.

The Technical Reference mentions the Disc_Status_XXX Constants but I can't find them documented anywhere. Can you help with that?

Don't do it. Check for INVISIBLE_TRACK NextWritableAddress. You should burn only if 1) such a track is present 2) NWA == 0.

So, instead of checking to see if the disk is complete. I should check the NextWritableAddress from TrackInfo. If that is 0 then there is no Writeable track available. Is that right?

I figured that since I got the CDB Error on the GetTrackInformation the TrackInfo would not be valid. Everything in the structure is 0 when the error is returned.

I saw in the technical reference something called Track_Number_Invisible but I can't find where that is set.

Sometimes it takes me a while to understand. Let's see if i can get it right this time.

I need to call GetTrackInformation with TRACK_NUMBER_INVISIBLE (&HFF). Even if I get an error with the CDB, I check the Track Information for NextWriteableAddress. If that is not 0 then I have a track to write to. If it is zero then The disk is complete and I need to erase it.

Is that correct?

I just ran a test. I looked at NextWriteableAddress when my CDRW has been erased and it was 0. I also get a 0 when the CDRW has been burned with DAO and is complete. how do I know the different. The second case throws and error.

If GetTrackInformation for invisible track fails - you don't burn. Disc is not recordable (closed). If GetTrackInformation returns success - theck for NWA inside track information. If it's not zero - disc was recorded and no DAO would work for it.
