Can the StartBurn SDK do the following?

1. Create a dvd capable of playing on any standard DVD player?
2. Create a menu on this DVD?
3. Use standard video formats like MPEG2, AVI, etc?

The goal is to be able to burn 5 separate video files to a DVD. The 5 videos need to show up on a menu to allow the user to select which one to play.

Do you have or know of any tools that allow for overlaying text over video dynamically? For example if I there is a program that allowed you to enter your name then you hit burn. It could burn a DVD with a video and have your name overlayed.

Thanks for your help!

We do DVD mastering but we don't do DVD authoring (yet). So you'd have to use third-party DVD authoring tool for this. Maybe something from AuthorWare.

The only thing I could find about authorware was from adobe? Are you referring to this? I am very interested in your product, however, it all hinges on being able to burn mpeg/avi to dvd-video. Thanks.

Take a look at www.authoringware.com for their DVD-Video authoring code. They can take your MPEG, multiplex it with AC3 audio stream and produce authorized DVD-Video content. You can use StarBurn to master and burn it.

For MPEG4 AVI you'll have too get extra transcoder to do MPEG4->MPEG2 transcoding.

No single toolkit I know would do what you want. You'd end with at least two of them.

Hi Anton

Thanks for the link. Do you know of any customers who have successfully used that SDK?

If I were to convert all the mpeg's to VOB's first would that relieve the need to author? Is it possible to burn 5 VOB files to a DVD without authoring. It seems I still need to do some authoring for the menu and chapters.

Yes of course!

We can author movie with single chapter from VOBs but we don't have a menu creator. Yet.
