#1 Burning Software

Hi,

User reported that program could not burn CD using external CD-writer HP 8200 series:



Above mentioned message is displayed when
StarBurn_CdvdBurnerGrabber_GetInsertedDiscType(FCdvdBurnerGrabber ) = DISC_TYPE_UNKNOWN.

Maybe I should ignore this returned value?
I did something wrong? or this burner model is not supported?

Or maybe there is a list of supported/non-supported burners ?

If it is not supported, will you support it in future?

Maybe someone came across such issues.

I even do not know what to reply to him.

this is old burner and it does not support GET_CONFIGURATION (0x46) SCSI command. So you're absolutely correct -- you just need to ignore "unknown" disc type and assume CD-RW is inserted in this case. The burner itself is fully supported

Thanks. I have fixed it and that user could burn on his CD-writer succesfully.

But one more question.

I wonder if there is any other SDK functions that may return wrong values, unexpectable results when burning on such kinda devices.

I am afraid that function "...GetInsertedDiscType" is not only one.

nice to hear everything works fine for you now!

You did a wrong assertation interpreting function result. That's all. No problem with the device (it perfectly said it just does not know what kind of disc it has inserted into) and no problem with the library (it delivered correct reponse from device to you). You just did not need to drop the operation...

There are some issues with Session-At-Once support with the old devices but I do not think you're really wanting to know about them...

P.S. We'll complete 1GB padding enabled and no manual DVD format version for you today later.
