Hi Guys

I know that MP3 burning is done using with Windows Media SDK. I've done trial runs between OGG and MP3.

On a decent machine (Athlon 64, XP Home, 1GB) a 30 minute MP3 file takes about 17 minutes to burn (well, 13 minutes to convert and 4 minutes to burn) whereas the comparable OGG file takes about 4 minutes in total.

Is this fairly normal?

One thing I am missing (I'm using the OCX) is the status on how much time is remaining with the MP3 conversion. Is it possible to get a status on this some how?

Thanks :)
- Shaun

For MP3 we need to completely decode the file before burning it. No other way to get true decoded file play time. So for MP3s longer burning time (b/c of the double decode) is normal. Faster machine you'll have - smoother your app will run.

Thanks, that's what I had figured.

Is there a way to get the status of the decoding process? It would be nice to show the user how much is remaining for the decoding process so that they feel the system is doing something.

Thanks again

Sorry, I did not miss second part of your message. I just don't know the right answer and the guy who knows will respond in a few hours :)

Hello

We are sorry but there is no way (at least in the current version of StarBurn OCX) to get the status(progress) of the decoding process !!

Regards,

Dmitry
