Unless I have something wrong, everything I see on the net essentially says that SAO burning should produce gapless CD because it is related to DAO. So why when I choose SAO I get the 2 sec gap? What would be the need to have SAO and TAO together on StarBurnX if they both produce the same thing at the end of the day.

Historically TAO was not able to set track-to-track pause length, SAO & DAO could. We've designed DAO engine as being able to produce gap-less CDs but did not apply such a thing to SAO engine. Later applied to TAO (ability to control gaps). So now DAO can make zero-gap CDs (always), TAO can (if underlying hardware supports, mostly often) and SAO is hardcoded with 2 seconds track-to-track pause.

So TAO can? How do I do that? I've tried the samples on my system that supports all modes and DAO is doing gapless, so I assume that the TAO should do gapless as well on that computer. Or do I have to program it in somehow? What's the code to do gapless?

Thanks.

This functionality is inside StarBurn core, do you want us to export it in StarBurnX as well?

Longer. If we'll try to release an update with ALL the pending issues fixed we'll have all to live forever :)
