#1 Burning Software

Hi. I'm trying to burn some .avi files to a dvd+r disc, but when I try to locate them as the source file they are not there. Do I need to convert my files to another format? I know how to convert them, so if that is the problem what format do I choose?

It depends on what are you going to have at the very end. In the other words: if you're burning DVD-Video - you need to provide StarBurn with VOB/IFO/BUP file set, no AVIs, however if you're burning MPEG4 AVI to the DVD+R to have data DVD to play in standalone player - everything should work just fine. So... Are you using Video Burning Wizard or Data Burning Wizard?

I never thought about which way I was going to burn the files. I wasn't sure if a data disc would work on my dvd player so I guess I'll have to test it out and go from there. If I need to turn the avi's into a VOB/IFO/BUP file set how do I do that? Is there a good program that can do that?

Grab some re-writable media and give it a try...

You can use VirtualDub to convert media files and DVD Author to create IFO/BUP/VOBs. All of them are free.
