Hello,

Any news on the OCX memory leak issue ? That is the only thing that needs to be resolved. Everything else works fine.
We are awaiting the resolution of this issue before purchase of our licences. Hope you will be able to fix soon.

Hello Anton,

The new OCX and changes in declarations of variables in Project does show some small improvements in Memory Usage compared to the earlier OCX, but still it is not acceptable.

The memory usage is different when burning to a CD and when burning to a DVD.
CD burning takes around 200 MB of memory.
DVD burning takes around 128 MB of memory.

I have mailed you along with some screengrabs of the memory usages.

Regards,
Annie

Hi ,

I used the new OCX in one of my projects and did the following :

I tried burning a CD with data size : 224 MB containing 416 files and 60 folders hoping that it will work smoothly , but it took a long time and ultimately my system hung up and i had to restart the IIS.

i have done everything as suggested by you.

Pls help :(

- Steve

Hi!

Steve, could you please send us StarBurn.log and, if possible, your test application to support@rocketdivision.com?

Annie, high memory consumption during burning is because of the data cache. We do the same in all our samples and it is recommended for reliable burning. After burning the memory usage should go down to normal. Do you absolutely need to decrease the burning cache size?

Regards,
Alexander Orlovsky

Hello Alexander,

I do understand that there may be some amount of memory allocated for burning and for data caching, but then if a Web Application consumes almost the entire permisible memory of the "ASPNET worker process", this would mean that only a single Client can use the application at a time and further none of the other applications on the same Server can be called simultaneously. This could ultimately also lead to Server Hang Up .

So definitely the memory consumption while burning to a CD needs to be improved .

Also, another question is that, why is there a difference in memory consumption while burning to a CD and to a DVD.
The memory consumption while burning to a DVD is quite acceptable.

I would request you to also try burning huge data to a CD and the same data onto a DVD and see the difference.

Please help

Regards,
Annie.

Hello Alexander,

I just forgot to mention, that the high memory usage occurs throughout the burning process and goes back to normal once the burning is complete.

Annie

I tried to recreate yesterdays problem but now its unable to write the CD at all. Have mailed you the starburn.log file and my sample project.
Also, my CD - Writer has been changed. Does this have anythong to do with the problem?
