StarBurn Free, version 12r10, hangs when the MagicJack Internet phone device & software is physically connected and active. (My Dell Vostro 220 w/ Vista Home Basic SP1 sees the MJ's "Properties" as two different devices: a HardDisk USB device AND a CD-ROM USB device [TigerJet CD-ROM v.2.0]). This latter device ID is "seen" by StarBurn Free.

When I attempt to burn an ISO image, a scanning process for CD/DVD disc devices begins but never completes. Disconnecting the MagicJack allows StarBurn Free to "unhang" and continue on just fine--or for MS Process Explorer (Task Manager) to finish killing SB Free, if that's what you attempted to do. Once Vista beeps that it has detected the physical disconnection of MJ, StarBurn Free then snaps into action correctly.

Note that this "MagicJack freeze" because / while scanning for Disc Readers / Burners does not happen only to Starburn Free:
Programs I've found to hang by a USB-connected MJ:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Starburn latest version v12r10
CDBurnerXP versions since 4.2.5.1541 (Which, I understand, utilize StarBurn [the SDK?])
Active@ISO Burner v2.x (LSoft Technologies, http://www.disk-image.net)
NERO InfoTool (Disc Burner & Disc Reader information program), v.5.3.3.0

Let me apologize in advance if I put this in the wrong Forum area--Due to the CDBurnerXP connection, perhaps it should have been put into the SDK forum?

Thanks,
Dave

If the issue happens to the whole bunch of the other tools I don't think it's our problem. Contact your Magic-whatever-they do guys asking them to fix their broken software.

P.S. And make sure you use SPTD access method for StarBurn.
