Is the only way to redistribute the SPTD driver by running the installer included with StarBurn? Or can I use my own installer to put sptd.sys into the winsows\system folder? I'm not sure of the legality of it all, and I don't see much in the documentation about the SPTD driver.

Yes. It's the only way. You may embedd sptd.exe into your own installer (we do it in exactly this way for StarBurn stand-alone app).
