hi,
I was making a burning test on a blu-ray disc (rewritable), when around session number 373 I had an unexpected crash during track import.

Using StarBurn DataBurner I could add other tracks to the disc (after the crash), but I lost the previous content even if the previous burned space is still wasting space on the disc..

So:
1. Have I reached the maximum track number?
2. Which is the maximum track number for a blu-ray disc?
3. If none of the above, any suggestion?

thanks,
Massimo.

P.S.: Waiting for next StarBurn release...

There are no track number limits for BD-xx as they always emulate one track. Back to 300+ sessions I think nobody ever tried to push StarBurn *that* hard. So we'll need a file set to put it down and fix session import code. Will look at this one close after V10.5 release we'll publish soon.

I have some more information about the issue.
Repeting the test, after 160 "ImportTrack" I got the following error message from StarBurn:

StarBurn_ISO9660JolietFileTree_ImportTrack failed,
exception EN_SCSI_CDB_FAILED,
status 0,
text 'CStarBurn_ScsiTransportASPI::ExecuteCDB(): Command failed'

Is this due to a disc or a burner limit?
Is it possible to avoid this issue in some way?

thanks a lot,
Massimo

No. This means "something failed and user did not manage to send detailed log so we can do nothing" :) Please capture the log and we'll find out what's broken.

Great. So we'll wait for next couple of weeks before Aaron will be back from his vacation.

P.S. Please do not send anything personally to anybody. There's a dedicated e-mail support@rocketdivision.com. It's redirected to the whole team, is tracked and watched by support staff manager. Personal e-mails are not...

Hello,
I've read your answer.

If I burn less files (but bigger in size) can file system structures fit in 64kb?
If not, do you have any workaround for this problem?

thanks,
Massimo

Yes, less files - smaller FS structures size.

Unfortunately this bug is not going to be fixed in upcoming release so we'll have to put into post-X-mas V11 build :(

hi,
I did a test using double sized files, and problem presented at around 40gb, while before the limit was around 20gb. So I think I can solve the prob using bigger files.

Since I'm using a jukebox, I need to send some scsi command to put the disc in its proper place after error. I noticed that after starburn fails, the jukebox movent (through aspi) is no longer possible. Do I have to "reset" starburn and/or aspi? Are things related?

thanks a lot.

1) Well... Workaround but not a solution :) Use UDF now and we'll fix ISO9660 later.

2) You may use Eject/Load to "soft reset" device or we may export whole hardware reset API call for you.
