Hey guys.. I'm having some inconsistencies with some re-writeable DVDs. This particular brand of DVD-RWs (TDK) when new.. Starburn says that the disk is blank and the next writeable address is valid. However when i try to burn to the disk i get an error. If i erase the disk before burning it.. it works fine.

Is erasing the disk the correct way to format this media? Is there a way to know when I need to erase before i can burn?

I should also note that the other media I have right now.. (DVD+RW) when it is new.. reports the next writeable address as not valid.. so i know then that I need to erase it and everything works fine.

Brock, what burner do you have? Can you send us debug logs from our console applications (say TrackAtOnceFromTree) trying to burn something to brand new, just unpacked media? Thanks!

I'm having this problem again with some media that does work in Starburn samples and in Nero. So.. now i know that I am doing something wrong in my code.

I'm trying to burn a DVD Video on a DVD-RW on both my HP burner and LITE-ON burner and everything succeeds fine but afterwards the disc is not recognized. I can erase it and burn it with Starburn sample program and the movie plays fine.

I noticed that for some reason I am not entering the Quick Format callback. Just looking at my code.. i do all the same initialization as you. Maybe I have a parameter to a function wrong somwhere? Can anyone suggest where I might look to find the cause of this problem?

I should mention that DVD-Video burns okay on both my drives with DVD+RW, DVD-R and regular DVD Data discs burn okay on all types.

I emailed my logs to support@rocketdivision.com .. if you have chance to look at my problem.
