Hi RD, I originally wrote on these forums back in July 2005 about adding additional folders and files to a video DVD (which could then be read on a normal computer). At the time you replied that this feature was not implemented and unlikely to be. Soon after this though i managed to achieve the result i was looking for anyway by adding a single file to the root directory of the video DVD using the StarBurn_UDF_FormatTreeItemAsFile. This single file once read by the pc would extract out all the files I originally wanted (i.e they where packed in the single file itself). Since then I've moved away from the StarBurn_UDF_CreateEx and am now using the StarBurn_DVDVideo_Create for the reason that on some dvd players I would occasionally getting slight pauses or freezes at the start of playing some titles and moving to StarBurn_DVDVideo_Create seemes to fix this. (note, nothing to do with my single file hack). My question is there anyway to do what I was originally doing before and store a single file on the route folder of the video dvd with StarBurn_DVDVideo_Create? If no, any chance you could pinpoint why using the StarBurn_DVDVideo_Create gives different behaviour to that when using StarBurn_UDF_CreateEx (I’m adding the .ifo .bup etc files correctly I think)

Thanks
Likzphat

You're just not patching IFO files when using manual DVD-Video creation. It was too hard for people to understand that's why we've created automatic DVD-Video stuff. You still have the pointer to root so you can add extra files to the root (if you want to violate the DVD-Video spec). But they would be visible for UDF readers only (no ISO9660).

Thanks for the quick reply.

maybe i'm missing something here but you removed the patch ifo api calls? At the time i sort of assumed you didn't need them anymore.
2005-11-23 : * StarBurn_UDF_PatchXxx API calls references removed.

You say i still have a pointer to root, do you mean with the StarBurn_DVDVideo_Create method ? that just returns a void* pointer in the passed in l_DVDVideo, so i'm not sure how it links with the UDF methods. A quick code example would be great on adding a file to the root . btw yes visible in UDF only and i don't mind about voilate the DVD video spec.

Thanks

Whoops... Sorry, I've forgot we've removed these API calls from public headers. Very too confusing as I've told.

"Small sample" would require to re-tailor core stuff a bit. If you're ready to cover the expenses - drop me a message to info@rocketdivision.com.

Thanks!
