I'm writing a DVD Video burning application. One of the functions of program is the ability to erase a non-empty RW disk. Right now I'm using the quick erase method as I saw no reason to do a full erase in my testing. However I just read a post which suggested that if a RW disk is formatted for packet writing that it has to go through a full erase before DVD video can be written to it. That's fine, but I'm wondering if there is an easy way to detect automatically whether a full format is required or not? I don't want to make the user go through a full format every time they erase just because it might be necessary. However I also want to avoid support requests from users who can't properly erase an RW disk and make it work with our program.

You'll get EN_FULL_ERASE_REQUIRED exception number after calling write function. If you're dealing with DVD-Video you should never write multisession DVDs however. Or you'd end with not always compatible media.
